Google updated its PageRank feature for all sites indexed. How does this affect you.
You have probably read what PageRank is before, so I won't go into it. Those of you who don't, can see it at Google Technology. PageRank is how Google determines the relevancy of a site for a given phrase. Seems simple right? Well it isn't. It is like trying to find the meaning of life.
It affects the website owner by possible reshuffling the Search Engine Ranking Pages (SERPs). If you lost PageRank on this recent update, you may want to reconsider some of your previous link exchanges. Remember if you sell widgets and you have a link from a site that sells transistors that link is doing you no good. Google ways very highly on the relevancy of the site that is linking to yours.
The best thing to do is use the Google Toolbar and check your sites to see if there was a change. If there was consider using the "Backlink" function of the toolbar to see what could be affecting your PageRank. |
